George, a dentist still practicing in the Margaret River Township, found himself driven by a lifelong passion for wine. In 2002 he completed viticulture and winemaking studies at the University of WA. They relocated down to their vineyard in 2004.

The stunning property, covering 100 acres, is undulating with two major creek lines. The vineyards are planted to maximize the potential of the aspects, soils are ideal and stands of pristine old forest provide wind protection. The microclimate and terroir of the site is simply exceptional.

The provenance of Heydon Estate is strong. The older blocks were planted in 1988 and the property was then known as Arlewood Estate.  Following a restructure in 2004, George who was co owner, sold his interest in the Arlewood business but retained the magnificent property. His dream to produce boutique quantities of iconic wine has been blessed by the retention of these exceptional old vines.

Adoption of organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards and the art of the finest winemaking, have combined to rapidly bring the dream within reach.
The 2004 “WG GRACE” Cabernet Sauvignon has been honoured at the Margaret River Wine Show with the trophy for BEST CABERNET SAUVIGNON.
The 2006 “The WILLOW” Chardonnay is a multiple GOLD medal winner and was honoured with selection representing Margaret River at the prestigious CULLEN INTERNATIONAL CHARDONNAY TASTING, being in the finest 21 chardonnays in the world.
