EVERYONE IS RAVING ABOUT OUR NEW CHARDONNAY The Willow 2012

SEE WHAT A LEADING PERTH SOMMELLIER RECENTLY HAD TO SAY…

Hi Mary,

The wine – gorgeous.  This is the sort of wine I want to recommend to out-of-staters or internationals who want to know what MR Chard is about.  Yes there’s the Pierro and the Cloudburst and the KJ, and those will always have their place, but MR nowadays is more and more about the ‘nouveau new world’ style, that balance between ripeness and warmth and oak sweetness, and genuine acidic, mineral structure, which was for so long disregarded in this part of the world.  This is a wine with the sensibility of a Heytesbury, genuine Burgundian structure, reminiscent of warm-vintage St-Aubin or Auxey-Duresses, where genuine ripeness meets the freshness that comes with cool nights and minimal rainfall.  It speaks of a brilliant vintage, and expert wine making equally.  I love that this stays to the ideal, and pushes for genuine structural power, cushioned by perfect execution of new French oak.  What a gorgeous wine, compliments to you and all involved.  I hope I will get a chance to come and see you when I am next in MR and get a better feel for the wines.  What a triumph of a wine – brilliant.

Best regards,
*****
